Anyone live in Massapequa Park?
We live in West Islip, right now. It was our first house together. We moved in when I was 8 months pg with our first child. She is now 4 1/2 and we now have a 4 month old boy.
I have never loved the house. It is on a busy street, which I hate, but it was the best of what we saw in our year-long, crazy-bidding war -house search back then.
My DH is from Nassau, and my parents live in Massapequa Park. I feel like there is a real sense of community there. I love the parks, shopping and I hear the school district is great.
Do any of you live in Massapequa Park? Would you rather live in West Islip or there?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

I honestly don't think you can go wrong in either place. I do like the fact that Massapequa park has a "town" that you can go into and shop. I wish WI had something like that.

Re: Anyone live in Massapequa Park?
I live in MP and really like the whole area. I grew up in Massapequa, so I've been here my whole life.
My sister lives in Wi and I really like her area as well. She's got great schools, nice shopping and she's close to lots of things.
If you like WI, then you could always move to a less busy street.

I lived in Massapequa Park and really liked as a kid. I really wanted to move their when we got married but it was out of our price range in 2004.

Re: Anyone live in Massapequa Park?
I love it and we almost bought there, but the deal fell through. One of the best things about it, IMO, is that the school district is good without crazy high taxes. I also thought that the prices were not bad considering the close proximity to the train station in the part we were looking in.

Re: Anyone live in Massapequa Park?
We bought in May 08 - we looked in Babylon Village, WI, and Mass Pk.
Mass Pk won out due to affordability, close proximity to village, and train sta.
I LOVE my neighborhood. So quiet and so well kept b/c of the 'rules' of the village. PLUS - snow removal rocked. The village really takes care of it's residents. Our streets were driveable when other towns you slipped and slid down every side street.
This is definitely our forever home and I couldn't be happier!!!!

Re: Anyone live in Massapequa Park?
Im actually originally from MP and bought a house in WI last year. I personally like WI better. Where I grew up the people were kinda stuck up and not as welcoming as I find in WI. I also went to Massapequa schools, and from everything I saw there, I wasn't impressed. But that's just my opinion b/c its where I grew up. I love WI, and we are very happy here. I like the property you get in WI much more than what you get in MP.

I grew up in Massapequa, so I am biased and I know nothing about WI. However the one thing nobody can debate... commute into the city. HUGE difference to me.

i have to agree with you, vicki... i grew up in massapequa and now live in bay shore/west islip and both are great areas to live in! its hard to say which is "better" - i dont think either are better... they are both great areas!

Re: Anyone live in Massapequa Park?
I moved to MP a year ago from Queens and I really love it so far. I dont know much about your area. I work in NYC and MP is as far as I wanted to go b/c of the commute. It is very nice here, all of the houses are very well kept and the people are nice.
