Anyone live in the hempstead/garden city/franklin square area??
Did anyone hear that loud bang? my building shook then i heard like 100 cop/firetrucks fly by over the course of like 5 mins
ETA- DH spoke with the cops. They *think* its a transformer underground that exploded. The manhole cover blew off into the air and flames were shooting out of the ground. Hemp trpk at Cathedral Ave/president st. is completely closed and traffic is backed up for a while
they still are not sure if that was exactly what happened plus the fire is still burning

yes i live there but i'm not home. i also work in garden city but didn't hear anything from my office building - you really can't hear anything outside though....

I was inmy kitchen and heard what sounded ilke an explosion. like 2 mins later heard 1000 emergency ppl fly by. i have no clue what it could have been though.

Yes, I live in that area, but I didn't hear anything. I was driving right on Hemp. Tpike/Cathedral only about 25 minutes before whatever happened though.
