Anyone live in the Hoboken/Jersey City Area??
DH and I just bought there.. Looking to:
- find people who live there
- a good painter
- a kitchen contractor-- we want to put in granite counter tops, tile the floors and do a tiled backsplash.
Thanks!!

Re: Anyone live in the Hoboken/Jersey City Area??
My friends just sold their place in Hoboken. They redid their kitchen about a year and a half ago. They ordered everything from Home Depot and used a contractor they suggested. Here are some pics.... Image Attachment(s):

Another friend of mine that still lives there, on Hudson, had their place painted. I'll email her for the name.

Well for you Jersey girls-- any info about the area would be great.. and once DH and I get settled in.. maybe we can hook up. We really only know a handful of people who live there now..

My friend on Hudson said she wouldn't recommend her painter b/c he wasn't very good.
And the other friend with the kitchen I posted definitely went through Home Depot.

Re: Anyone live in the Hoboken/Jersey City Area??
I lived in Hoboken for 8 yrs (uptown)- miss it alot - so many good places to eat. Good restaurants downtown are: 340 Grill on the waterfront, The Brass Rail on Washington st. Didn't venture down town as much.
Mid: Court Street Margueritas
Good uptown:
Amanda's - upscale American City Bistro - steakhouse Madison - upscale bar/restaurant Baja - Mexican Ted & Jo's - casual but good Irish pub/restauarnt Augustino's - my fave Italian in Hoboken
Good luck!

Re: Anyone live in the Hoboken/Jersey City Area??
DH and I are in the process of redoing our kitchen. We bought the cabinets, tile and counter from Home Depot, but did the work ourselves. The contractors at HD wanted almost 2x's as much $$$$ to do the work as the materials cost. We also had difficulties working with the kitchen designers at HD. Plus, their "expert" who came out and measured our kitchen miss measured a few things. I might look at other options.
This is a great website for referrals. All of them are licensed and insured. You can find anything in your area from pianters-to contractors.

I
My FH used to live in Hoboken and we used to eat at Zafra's every weekend. It's cuban/spanish food, the food it sooo good and it's bring your own alcohol. I'm not sure of the streets but it's right across the street from the hospital.

Re: Anyone live in the Hoboken/Jersey City Area??
Margheritas (Washington and 8th) is my favorite Italian restaurant ever! The penne a la vodka is the best! And the mussels.... I wish I could go now!
The best fresh mozz is from Fiores (Adams between 4th and 5th) - its awesome! THey make it right there and there is nothing like it! When we visit we buy tons of it and bring it back to Chicago with us!
Amanda's (Washington near 10th or 11th or maybe 12th) has awesome brunch!
Mile Square (Washington around 2nd or 3rd) is a great place for apps and drinks - food is okay.
Trattoria Sapporita (Washington between 3rd and 4th) is really good.
