anyone NOT have a stove vent?
Our stove will have a microwave over it.
I am used to the airvents to pull out heat or smoke from DH cooking.
I am concerned not going to have one.
Anyone else not have one of those air vents? Do you not miss it?

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
We have a vent, but it doesn't vent to the outside. I think it just sucks the heat up and spits it back into the house
Doesn't make much sense to me.....

We also have a microwave over our stove. We turn on the microwave fan when we use the stove. I never had an air vent so I can't miss it... but I have not had a problem with the microwave fan.

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
we're in an apartment, so we have one of those cheap things that doesn't vent to the outside..... USELESS. Basically the same thing as having no fan at all. Honestly, I haven't turned it on in a couple years......
I dream of the day I don't have to worry about a smoke alarm going off just because I'm frying burgers

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
WE don't and I hate it. I do have an over the range microwave with a fan, but it does crap! I open my windows when I cook smelly stuff and use a little fan to blow it out. I hate having my house smell like the food I cooked, especially when its not chocolate chip cookies!

that seems worthless?
I don't mind the house smelling like what you cook and I do barely use the fan now, but there are times I find I want the steam out. I've rented in the past, so there was no changing how the kitchen was, but soon enough it'll be ours.

If you used the vent over the stove, you wont set your fire alarm off....the vent, where it doesnt vent anything outside, takes the heat from the cooktop and cools it so the air is not as hot, therefore hot setting off fire/smoke alarms
Try it next time and you will see

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
I don't have an extractor fan (was due to have one in my new kitchen, but the ceiling wasn't stable enough for it)
I just don't cook meat in the house, I cook it outside on the bbq. I hate my bedroom smelling like onions.

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
We use the one in our microwave. It works pretty good, but we still have set the fire alrams off quite a few times So I don't know if it's the fan or my cooking

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
We have a vent but it just spits the air back inside the room. We are adding an air duct that will port the air outside of the house. Our kitchen gets REALLY hot whenever we cook.

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
We don't have a hood or a vent, nor a microwave above. It is fine, but I do wish I had something above to absorb the steam.

Re: anyone NOT have a stove vent?
I don't cook much, so I don't miss it. We have a window pretty close - so if I do cook anything smelly - I just open it up.
