Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
I use Dr. Brown's. I am not switching especially since I want him off the bottle by the time he is 18 months so I have a month and half left. He also only has 2 bottles a day.
I did read in Parenting Mag., Sept. issue about this problem and they said not to wash them in the dishwasher, put them in the microwave and once they get scratched and are cloudy to throw them out. HTH

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
I am not changing bottles. I wash them inthe dishwash after ever use. This study has been out for a long time. I am sad to think what cased them to bring it back into the public but I can't live in a bubble. If they get recalled, fine i will make a change. Until then, I am going to continue to do what I have always done.

that is how I feel I just stopped heating them in the microwave. I would only put it in for 1o sec., but now I just take them out about a half hour before I know they get one. My boys dont seem to mind drinking them cold anyway.

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
I didn't after the first time this stuff came out months and months ago.
If they are recalled then of course I will not use them with the next child but until then no worries.
Andrew just finished with bottles last week thank goodness so I don't have to think about it for awhile.

I still use my Dr. Browns and also heat them up in the bottle warmer.

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
I am not changing. I hand-wash the bottles mostly, and I don't heat them in the microwave - just run them under hot water.

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
Did I miss something? I thought the study was still inconclusive on this.
And, if its so bad, why are we only worried about baby bottles, isn't the BPA in other food related plastics we give our kids as well?
I am not switching, and am still using the dishwasher...personally I think I could do more harm to my child with glass bottles or even plastic ones that aren't washed as well.

I was just asking to see who was switching that is all.

You are correct. It's also the case for bottles of water.
We no longer store our water bottles in the garage.

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
Yeah, I just bought some more Dr. Brown's because they are the only ones that really work for DD and her acid reflux. If they are reacalled, then thats a different story. I know plenty of kids that used these bottles as babies and had no problem.
DD has her bottles at room temp, or right out of the fridge. I do wash them in the dishwasher.

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
I'm not. I think that everyone is getting WAY too upset about a study that has no definative results. Anything COULD cause a problem in life.
I like the Avents, I do not heat them, although I do wash them in the dishwasher and I don't plan on changing ANYTHING that we do. We use the Drop Ins when we are out of the house all day, but DS really doesn't like them.
It also kind of upsets me that everyone is saying there is a bottle recall, there has not been a recall at all.
ETA: I agree with this Posted by clydrak
personally I think I could do more harm to my child with glass bottles or even plastic ones that aren't washed as well.
We KNOW glass breaks and can shatter in a million pieces, isn't that worse than some unknown risk?

But what about the store? Before they are on the shelves you don't know where or how they were stored.

I thought they said NOT to leave them in your car when it is hot out??

That is what they said, I am saying that you could buy a case of water that the store had in a really hot storeroom and no one would ever know, KWIM?

The book Baby Bargains retracted them from their book saying they will no longer endorse them " recalling them from the book " basically...
Thats what brought this all on.
And I use Dr. Browns and I stopped microwaving them, but I'm still using them. I have to , they work SOOO well on DS, how could I not, because of a "maybe" risk?

Re: Anyone NOT switching bottles??
I have the Avent bottles and even though I do not heat up DD's food anymore I do wash the bottles and then put them in the sterilizer every day. I also use the drop ins when we are out but DD prefers the Avent bottles. I think I will continue to do what I am doing for now.
