Anyone notice it's just not the same second time around?
I don't know if it's because we haven't told any friends/family yet or what but the first time seemed so much more exciting. Does that seem weird?

Re: Anyone notice it's just not the same second time around?
When I became pregnant with DD, my SIL said, "Enjoy it this time because it will never be the same." (She has 3 boys) As my 7.5 mos. pregnant self was wrestling 17.5 mos. old, 24 lb. Katherine into her carseat this afternoon, I certainly saw the truth in her words!!! Can you imagine if someone has seen us carrying a 25 lb. box during our first pregnancy? It would be like, "No! Let me!" Now hauling around a toddler all day isn't given a second thought!
Honestly, I barely even remember that I'm pregnant this time. A lot of that has to do with the easy time I've had of it...thank God. But the other part of it is that I have no time to focus on myself anymore. Eh, that's life I guess!
The other night when I had DH feel the baby moving he said, "You know, it's really not as cool this time around--having Katherine on the outside to actually play with in real life is 100x better."
Even being on the pregnancy board is different this time around. I felt like I really "knew" all the 2005 moms, maybe because we were mostly going through it the first time together. I feel more comfortable on Parenting really.
Having said all that I am still VERY excited for the new baby...but you know what? I'm about a million times MORE freaked out!!

I have to add...I did realize with my son its like I was a goddess to my dh--with the second it was old school. maybe because they were so close.

Re: Anyone notice it's just not the same second time around?
(not pregnant with my second) but I love when I see pregnant couples at the mall...you just KNOW its their first, they have that first baby glow!!! And I remember that feeling...knowing that YES you were pregnant, but you could go home and go to sleep, or go out for a meal without having to arrange child care...
I think being pregnant with your first is a really magical time! Oh and I do so miss it!!!

Re: Anyone notice it's just not the same second time around?
i agree.
the first time around I knew to the day how far along I was including how many days to go and what was going on with the baby.
I am so caught up with watching my DD grow that I haven't gone crazy. I feel bad, but its not like I am neglecting this baby. I am giving him a good home for 10 months!

Re: Anyone notice it's just not the same second time around?
The 2nd time was definitely not as noticeable (and went a LOT quicker) because I had a toddler to occupy my time.
Some good things about it were - No fear of labor since I'd been through it before.
Knowing how amazing that end result is going to be & how in love you're going to feel.
Knowing full well that you really won't forget to feed the baby or leave it somewhere.
