Anyone only certfied in Special ed 1-6? I want to get my birth to 2....
Boces told me I just need to take one accredited class on early childhood - must be from a college with a teacher accreditation
Someone I knew told me she took a class online at Phoenix - they have online courses, and she said someone else she knew did the same thing, and they both were able to receive their birth to 2 cert....
I spoke with Phoenix about the class and they said that NYS has been giving them problems about accepting it for certification in the past 6 months or so
Does anyone know if there is a class I can take online to get this? I can't afford to go back to college yet again - between finding someone to watch my infant and the money that it costs - the online course was ideal both pricewise and timewise... I am going to call Boces again today to see what they say, but I have a bad feeling about this and dont want to take the chance...
HELP!!!!

Do not go through Phoenix! Someone I know had their certification denied because she took classes through Phoenix and they are not NYS accredited for Education.
Call BOCES and see if there is a specific program or on-line vendor that they can recommend. I always find the BOCES people to be very helpful.

Hofstra offers the advanced certificate that leads to the certification, (im in the masters program) i think you need at least 18 credits to be eligible for the license
