I personally would not trust any breeder that ships their dogs. A breeder should be investigating you as a prospective parent as much as you are investigating them. HTH!

Definitely don't do this. Anyone who would sell a dog online can't be trusted.. Reputable breeders truly care for their dogs and want to know everything about the families they are going to.

Re: Anyone order a dog online from a breeder?
Any reputable breeder is going to screen the customer/owner. You do not want to buy online as you have no idea what kind of "breeder" you are dealing with, nor do they know anything about you. For all they know you could be buying dogs for any hideous purpose imaginable...yet they would sell to you and ship you a dog. Doesn't sound very reputable, does it?
Also, you have no idea of the medical history and temperment history of the parents. They can tell you anything, but since you don't see anything how do you know if they are telling you the truth?
Please stay away. Besides, if this is related to the cava-poo question..these people are selling mutts for a profit.

I did and then got to travel and pick up my dog in upstate ny. My dog has MANY health issues and it was the worst mistake I ever made.

I did it and had a great experience in that my dog is perfect (and 2 now) however, after learning more about it, I really regret doing it as I fear I may have contributed to a business in which they treat animals poorly.

If it is on a site that is a "broker" site I would say definitely not. Plus Texas is a hotbed for PMs.
What breed of dog have you decided on? Maybe we can help you find a reputable breeder.
Also, I have a list of criteria that you can use to help determine how ethical a breeder is. FM me if you want the list.

Re: Anyone order a dog online from a breeder?
We didn't buy our pup online but we found our breeder online. This site is a place for breeders to advertise, but they will not sell a dog over the internet- it is just to make the connection to a local private breeder and than you have to call the breeder, go to the home, etc.
Breeder.net
We have had a wonderful experience with our bredder- she has required that we return the dog if we can no longer care for it, that we HAVE to get it neutered or she will fine us, etc. She's a show bredder and breeds for the breed itself, not for the money. She is there for us all the time- told us we can call her anytime, day or night. That if the pup gets sick or has a genetic defect- she will give us a credit towards a new pom if we choose.
She really is wonderful and we're so glad we found her.
