Anyone own the Little People Hot Rod or the Dora the Explorer Quad?

I have a contact at Mattel and can pick one of these for DD as a gift for her dad and me for her 1st Birthday. I cannot decide which one. Both are power wheels but the Hot Rod has the pole for parents to steer it for the child and costs us $40 more. I don't know if the Hot Rod is worth the $40.

Can't decide Does anyone own either?

I have the Barbie version of the Dora one. Between the two I would go w/ the hot rod b/c of the pole. At 1 DD was too young to drive the quad alone. It will be a lot easier for you to help w/ the hot rod rather than the quad.

I had the hot rod. it's very cute and DD really likes it. I think it's on sale now for $99 at Toys R Us. The only thing that's annoying is that to keep it moving you have to hold your finger over the button and that kinda hurts after a while. And when DD starts using it herself, she's going to have to do the same thing with a button on the dashboard - it's going to be a while before she can do that.
