Re: Anyone read Babywise?
I did and felt it was too strict. Every baby is different and my daughter fell into her own routine that was more along the lines of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby

I did read it b/ friends swore by it. I feel like i read so many books on sleep and took a little advice from each one. You have nothing to lose by reading it.....

I think the author has watered it down a bit, but older versions were linked with failure to thrive due to the strict feeding schedule -- it's certainly not a book you want to go by if you want to breastfeed.

I agree with it being too rigid. I like the books by Dr. William Sears better.

Re: Anyone read Babywise?
I agree with it, and modify it slighty and start it around 6-7 weeks. It is much more common in the South were I am now but I have a 2 year old and 2 month old who sleep from 7pmish-7amish so no complaints. With my husband's deployments and no family around it helped me set up an awesome routine

No. I heard too many things I didn't like from other people who used that method that I knew it wasn't for me. I prefer Sears books as well.

Re: Anyone read Babywise?
A friend recc this book to me - she swore by it - so i bought it and read it cover to cover and tried to implement it but it just didn't work for us - i ended up getting less sleep b/c even though i woke him up the same time ever day he would just never go to sleep early enough on the schedule...plus i found either he was too hungry or i was feeding him too frequently and he was just grazing...that said...
After buying it and reading it I read many not so good things about the book - the review in Baby 411 was particularly harsh - saying it was so contrary to mainstream pediactric practice that the american academy of pediatrics issued an alert about the book and went on to make some pretty bad comments.
