Anyone read Outlander? [NOT THE Outlander]

I bought this book, thinking it was THE Outlander. . . but it isn't. It is an historical romance novel set in Scotland and involves time travel.

Sounds crazy right? BUT OMG it is SOOOO GOOD!! It is part of a series. . . yes, there are some HOT scenes Chat Icon but it is also pretty historically accurate and VERY interesting!! I think it is over 600 pages and it didn't take me very long to read at all and now I am on the second book of the series Dragonfly in Amber.

I am hooked!!!!

Re: Anyone read Outlander? [NOT THE Outlander]

MY FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALLLLLLLLL TIME!!!!!!!!

I have read the entire series (well, what there is of it so far) probably 5 times or so.

I have gotten countless friends and family, even non-readers, hooked on these books. I have been to a few readings with Diana Gabaldon, and have a signed copy of An Echo in the Bone.

I'm pretty much an expert, and totally obsessed Chat Icon

I know! Jamie is amazing. My BFF and I are obsessed and when we talk about the books my DH will say, "You DO realize that theses are not real people, don't you??" Chat Icon

Here's the best quote of the series, IMO (it's from The Fiery Cross): "When the day shall come, that we do part," he said softly, and turned to look at me, "if my last words are not 'I love you'--- ye'll ken it was because I didna have time." That Jamie Fraser sure has a way with words Chat Icon

There are 7 so far. She's writing the 8th one, it will probably be released the end of 2012. The books are huge, between 600 and 1600 pages each but they are incredible.

Okay, I gotta see what the fuss is about. I'm usually not a fan of historical fiction though, do you think I'd like it?

Honestly, I would have NEVER read this book if I didn't buy it accidentally -- there is just no way to describe it!

I say. . . give it a shot and stick with it for a bit. . . at least 200-300 pages in it changes drastically and then it is so fast paced I had to go back reread parts of it!

That's what everyone says. Hmmm, when I have some money I'll probably pick it up. None of my friends have it to borrow it!

It is THAT good. Give the first book 300 pages. It kind of wanders a bit before that, but then it gets OMG AMAZING.
