Anyone run a Daycare or take care of kids in their home?
Alas I am thinking of ways I cna stay home with my daughter and my Mom suggested that since i was having a hard time finding quality care why dont I consider being the quality care. Its a great idea since I love kids and have experience taking care of mor ethan one. However I dont know where to start. I think I would only take on two in addition to my own..if anyone has any info please help..

Usually don't post on this board (since i'm not a parent), but...
I work in the early ed dept of a college here in FL. In order to open up a day care in your home you need to complete a 30-hour family child care program and pass the competency exams to receive your certificate. Then you would need to contact the local health dept/licencing and ask them to send you a packet of what you need to do next. I think the max is 5 children in your home.
This is for FL, so maybe call the early ed dept of your local community college and they can help you.

you should contact the childcare council of nassau or suffolk. they will have information on how to start an in home childcare. there are alot of requirements, licensing and safety issues that go into child care in the home.

Couldn't you also just do something more "casual" if you know the kids' parents or something?
