anyone see A Dogs Purpose.
I think it would be too sad. Bring back too many memories of my dog
I saw the coming attractions while at the movies a few months ago and I couldn't stop crying during that 2 min preview

anyone see A Dogs Purpose.
I wanted to when I first saw the trailer, but since it came out that they abused the dogs in the film, I will not see it. I can't support animal cruelty, especially in a film when they could have used CGI instead of real animals in the dangerous parts.

I dont think the dog was abused from what I saw on TV. If anyone saw me place my dog in the tub for a bath.. the way she looked and behaved you would have thought I was about to butcher and eat her for dinner.
I respect your feelings and reasons.

I've heard since that the video was faked, so I'm not quite sure what happened with it.
I haven't seen the movie but I read the book and it was a really good story- sad but happy, too. But I did bawl my way through it.

Or was that video of them forcing the dog into the water not from the set of that movie and from something else?

From what I read there were several takes where the dog jumped happily into the water, apparently the dog was chosen because of his fondness for water. And the video was two separate scenes edited to make it look like the dog was being mishandled.

ETA: So not a fake, but misleading. When the dog balked at the water, they stopped filming and took him off set then went back later to finish shooting once they determined he was not in distress.

This is how I feel. I will watch it but not in a theatre. I cry every single time I see the commercial.

I see the movie as making me sad, but your Dh is right. I (WE) should look at the beauty of the human/dog/animal relation, on with ups and downs.
and sadness of a loss is a big one

I saw it and loved it.
There are probably 2 or 3 scenes which are sad and did yield tears. But other than 1 sad scene about one family, its not tears of "OMG how cruel" but more of "aww how sad that this is what animals and humans experience as part of life."
