anyone see any good deals on LCD TVs?

Looking for another LCD HD-ready TV... in the 37-46" range. (Yes I know that's a big range...)

We saw a few deals out there, but not sure if anyone's seem something different. Seen any good sales?

We (literally) have to buy it today. (long story)

Re: anyone see any good deals on LCD TVs?

It doesn't have to be super high quality... middle quality would be best. One of our TVs now is a Polaroid brand (I would guess you could call that low quality) and we haven't had any problems with it.

We don't want a total piece of junk, but it doesn't need to be a $5,000 TV (or more... I know they go for a lot more)

ETA - so low - middle quality... but not a total piece of junk that we'll have to replace in 2 years.

Right now two of the better LCD's on the market are the Samsung LN T4661F and the Sony Bravia KDL-46S3000

We went to a place called Fifth Avenue Electronics they have a couple of store on the island that just opened. They had very good prices. They always have an ad in the Sunday paper, but they also have a website.

We have the Toshiba Regza 42". We got it a while back at PC Richards on sale.

ETA: Consumer Reports gave it an excellent rating.

We have the Samsung. Last year it was going for over 2400.00 but we waited until the day after Thanksgiving and it went on sale for 1700.00.

If you can wait, check out the sales and early bird deals on Black Friday. We saved a ton of money.

Unfortunately, I was serious when I meant we had to have it today. It's such a long story... but I'll definitely keep this in mind for future purchases!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

If you HAVE to have it today . . . 5th Avenue Electronics has the lowest prices. I followed prices for a month at all the major stores and week after week after week, they were the lowest price.

Well, Vizio (which sells almost exclusively to wholesale clubs) is the number 1 seller in LCD's for the past year... For the prices, you get a great picture quality and features that you find on a set that cost 3x more.

Most people don't even know how to configure the picture or calibrate it. Heck, i know people that thought they were watching HDTV just cause it came from a Sony tv.

To the OP, hope you found a tv ..you never mentioned what you were looking for so i couldn't suggest anything

Re: anyone see any good deals on LCD TVs?

If they haven't changed it, Costco has a fantastic return policy on their TV's. My brother had a TV that suddenly locked on the Spanish Language option and he could not get into the menu to change it back. They took the TV back - TWO YEARS after he purchased it and since the model was no longer available they exchanged it for a new model. And when he asked if he could upgrade for an additional amount, they let him do that. When the new TV went kaflooey about a year or two later they exchanged that as well.
