Anyone still "cautious" after 14 wks?
I'm wondering if I'm the only person who thinks this way...or if it's just hormones.
I've posted this before but to give background my ultrascreen bloodwork came up w/a higher positive (1:66 out of 1:200).
Anyway, I have told some family/friends that I am pregnant w/#2, but after I got my results, I stopped. I feel like I should wait until I get the amnio results (which won't be until the end of July) to tell everyone (and to be excited about it) knowing that (I hate to say it/think it but...) there may be a decision to make...
I'm going to a 4th of July party today w/extended family and I'm not sure if I want to say anything. I still don't look like I'm pg. to most people. And at 14 wks most pg. symptoms are gone so not really "feeling" pg.
Sorry to be so down on the a fun holiday but any thoughts or anyone else have these feelings?

I have not been through what you are going through but the way you feel is completely understandable. I am so sorry you have to go to this party and feel this way. I probably wouldn't say anything either and just wait for the amnio.

Re: Anyone still "cautious" after 14 wks?
for me, the answer would be easy, because i know despite what the results of the amnio told me i don't think that i would terminate the pregnancy (unless it was the kind of chromosomal abnormality that would not allow the baby to live past birth). i would still be sharing the news of the pregnancy with family and friends simply because i would know that i would need their support.
that being said i completely understand why you feel this way, and i am sorry that you have to deal with this now

I know exactly what you mean. Everyone knows that we are pregnant, but sometimes I'm so scared of what could potentially happen. I'm 16 weeks.
I agree with the OP, do whatever you feel most comfortable with!

although i told everyone right away, I am still paranoid and I am 33 weeks! I dont think it ever goes away.
I decided to tell my family bc if somethng bad was to happen , I would want their support. But this is totally your decison and if you are not ready, there is nothing wrong with holding off until you are comfortable

Re: Anyone still "cautious" after 14 wks?
I feel this way. I am 16 weeks now and still very worried. I just announced to family and friends about 2 weeks ago for the same reasons (worried). I am still hestitant to tell neighbors, for reasons similar to yours. I too am going to a family function today so while I feel at ease that it's out there, it's a bit nervewracking b/c I still have fears!
I really do understand. If you want to chat more, FM me. I am here for you.

Yes...very much so...I had a miscarriage the first time. and I just couldn't get excited. Even now, I freak out about every little thing...my doctor must think that I am nuts!!!

Re: Anyone still "cautious" after 14 wks?
I can't tell you enough how much I LOVE this site and all of you for all your support and advice. It's nice to know you're not alone in your thoughts/feelings.
I wish I had known about this when I had my 1st.
I never even thought about the family support factor. I guess I'm the type who likes to internalize and keep these things to myself (well..and my DH and my parents...and you guys ).
Today's party is w/my DH's family (and he'll be at work) so I'm on my own. My in-laws are very supportive but I do have a SIL (who will be there) who thinks she knows everything which I think sets me off (but that's a whole other story)
Thanks again for your advice. I guess we'll play it by ear...

Re: Anyone still "cautious" after 14 wks?
Ironically enough...as I was sitting on the front stoop, cousin "a" comes out and says "ooohhh...I hear a congrats is in order..." 2 mins later...cousin "b", then cousin "c" comes over and says pretty much the same thing... So...I'm thinking...wth is telling everyone right now???
Turns out my MIL (who I love dearly) decided to let the "cat out of the bag". Granted, I never told her not to. However, we did have a convo. about me not telling my SIL's about the amnio (just in case) and MIL knows my views on the outcome. So, why she thought it was a good idea to tell everyone else is beyond me. I can say that she is an optimist so I guess she wasn't worried about it.
After all that worrying this morning...things have a way of "fixing" themselves. What can you do right?

I am almost 24 weeks and still worry. I think it's a normal part of pregnancy.
