Re: anyone still have vcr tapes

I have sooo many. I used to collect videos and well, then dvd became popular. So now I have a gazzilion videos. Some I will never part with, because they are classics and I haven't even seen them on DVD, but eventually I guess I will sell them on ebay or something. But a few years ago, when it kinda changed over to all dvd stuff, I bought a new vcr to have boxed for the day they are extinct, so I'll still be able to watch my videos!!Chat Icon

Re: anyone still have vcr tapes

Had this question a few weeks ago. Still have a lot from when I was younger and being the pack rat that I am, I find it hard to part iwth things. But now I'm feeling ike I want things minmal. I may bring the kid ones to school for movie days (like before a vacation) and donate the others and keep the real special ones. But to be honest, we don't even have the vcr hooked up. And to be even more honest, DH and I talked about this the other day and there is just something great about catching your favorite movie on cable. It's a surprise. Going to the video store is the same thing...you picked it out and WANT to see it. But we really have watched maybe 3 of our dvds several times over. Hence, we don't buy them anymore.

Sorry for rambling!

That is soo true. I have soo many movies I could just pop in the dvd player, but yet I see it on cable and I am so psyched, for example, wedding crashers, I have watched it twice today, yet I own it and can watch it anytime!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Exactly! I looooved Love Actually and when my mom got it for me, I was ecstatic and it is one that I will pop in, but last December, it was on HBO and I think I caught it about a dozen times and each time, I watched it! Chat Icon

I do. I still use my VCR to tape shows when I am not able to watch them. I think I'll forever be stuck in this method because DH is way too cheap for Tivo or anything else.

I have a ton, but no longer have a VCR, so I won't be watching them anytime soon!! I guess it's time to get rid of them/sell them...Chat Icon

Yes, DH and I both were involved in television production in college. We have many hours of programs that we worked on on VHS.

We have shelf for of them. MIL collected all of the Disney movies for her future grandchildren. Disney pulls movies for 10 years. I guess she didn't want her 5 year old grandson to have to wait 5 years to watch Lady & the Tramp? Anyway, we have tons of them...

Re: anyone still have vcr tapes

I still have them all, and as someone mentioned, Disney has this "vault" policy, so I a definitely holding onto the Disney ones and I do watch the tapes for whatever's not out on DVD yet, or some things I love and never got the DVD of, like Star Wars. I didn't want the special edition.
