anyone take DC to their own dentist, not a pediatric dentist?
i went to my dentist today, who i LOVE and trust 100%, and asked him questions about my son who is 15 months old and has at least 12 teeth (he even met him the other day when my mom had to go to the dentist--DS was SO good for the dentist!)
he said he absolutely does cleaning/etc on toddlers so i made an appt for when DS is 18 months old. they said not to worry if DS refuses to have them look at his teeth--we can just walk him around the office and get him used to things and try again later.
are there any pros/cons to going to a "regular" dentist over a pediatric dentist? my dentist is so warm and kind so i'm not worried at all about the atmosphere of the place. i'm not worried about the care he would receive either.
basically, i'm not worried--just completely ignorant when it comes to dental care for toddlers!

I take DS to my dentist (he is 4, started at 3). I find it works for us because we get our cleanings on the same day. He watches me go first and then he wants to go. He loves how I get a goody bag of things and he wants that badly .

I plan on taking DS to our regular dentist, I like her and the hygentist a lot and feel comfortable with them. We actually had our teeth cleaned recently and took DS to watch for a few minutes so he could see what it was all about

We had NO luck at the pediatric dentist, we went 5 times and never had her teeth cleaned because she freaked. Then we tried DH's dentist and it went very well. I think, it is all about the Dentist's personality.

We plan on taking Abby to our regular dentist who happens to be a close family friend. He strongly suggests having your DC sitting on your lap in the chair if possible to acquaint them with the idea of someone putting their fingers in their mouth.

I work for a general dentist and I take DD there. i agree with above...it all depends on the dentist and hygienists demeanor, not necessarily if its a pediatric office or not.
