Anyone take Microbid for a UTI while nursing? Kristopher is only one week.

Both my OB and my Pediatrician said it was completely safe to take even now, but I am paranoid. I have a really bad UTI-fever, chills, pain.

Has anyone taken this medication while nursing?

If they said it was safe, I would say you're fine.

If it was a new drug on the market, I would be hesitant too. Macrobid has been around for awhile - I had to take it for 6 months straight for UTIs & that was about 15 years ago.

If you're still not comfortable after their reassurance, pump & dump.

This UTI sounds serious. Take care of yourself.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had a UTI after birth- probably from the catheter. My ob/gyn and ped said it was fine to breastfeed- feel better!Chat Icon Chat Icon

They tried to prescribe it to me and I refused. I made them give me something else.

Thank you all! I spoke to my pediatrician again, and she said that to be completely safe, pump and dump until next Friday. I am so upset. I hope he latches back on. THank you for the advise, I am an idiot and I should have looked online before I took itthis morning. WHen I called the pediatrician, she said it was safe originally, but when I called back, she said let's just be safe.
