Anyone take Vitamin D supplements during pg?
Is anyone taking Vitamin D supplements?
I am not pg but ttc and was told I need to take Vit D supplements as my Vit D level is low and it's the newest thing to check and take care of. But I don't know how I feel about taking Vitamin D during pg. Anyone taking it and what does their dr say? Is it safe?

i am taking it now but an over the counter dose - when i was pregnant with my son i was very low on vitamin D and i was given a perscription for a very large amount - my doc was not sure so i did not take it - i just tried to be out in the sun more without sun screen and drink more milk

I am low on vitamin D3 so I'm taking the 2000 IU over the counter suplements. That's what my high risk dr told me to take and my OB didn't seem to give it another thought.

I had to start taking it during the end of my first trimester when my Vit D levels came back low for the fetus. My Dr. recommended I take caltrate (Vit D with calcium) and I take it twice a day since the tablets are smaller. If it was a horse pill, I could take 1/day.

My OB told my that the 400 iu in my prenatals isn't enough vitamin D and that I should supplement with an additional 400 ius.. so that's what I'm doing. So I'm now taking 800 iu total of Vitamin D per day.

My vitamin D levels are also low....they've been low in the past before. My Dr. wanted me to have total of 5000units of D so between my pre-natals, and 1 caltrate with D, I take an additional 4000units of D = 5000units

I haven't seen natural sunlight in over a month so I am taking OTC supplements. I actually only take 1 5000IU a week bc DH bought the wrong one. I was taking 1000 or 400IU prior to that depending....

I am taking over the counter Vitamin D3 2000 IU once a day. I was only a little low but still in the "normal range". My doctor wasn't concerned but wanted me to take this just to bring it up more.

My doc said my levels were low and prescribed me 4000 IU a day of it. Deficiencies are common in the winter when you don't get a lot of sunlight.
