Re: Anyone teach in these areas in MD?
I taught in PG county for 2 LONG years, stay FAR AWAY!!! It was the toughest and longest 2 years of my life, but I will say I learned alot, especially classroom management!! Some of the areas in PG aren't too safe either, I was 5 min. from DC, and in one year, two teachers got held up at gun point in the school parking lot, and a guy pulled a gun on cops in the parking lot when they followed him in from DC from stealing a car to take his GF to the school so she could have lunch with her little sister!! There must have been 15 cop cars right out side of my classroom window!! And this was at an elementary school!!!!
I don't know much about the other counties, I teach in VA now and LOVE it!!

Re: Anyone teach in these areas in MD?
I would look into Northern VA then, Arlington County, Fairfax County or Loudon County, All great school districts. I know Fairfax county paid to get my certification in VA

Re: Anyone teach in these areas in MD?
Is he only offered a teaching position in PG county? Other areas of Md are beautiful and more affordable than both NY and VA. We looked into livng in Leesburg,VA but my pay is better in this area of Md. I am on a different payscale than the teachers in my county though (I'm a speech therapist).
I've heard (but never investigated) that Loudon County, VA has some of the highest pay for teachers though.
I also know that my county is hiring for teachers- not sure about PE though.
I will say, I love living here- and would never consider moving back to NY even though my family is still there.
