Anyone tell work earlier than planned...UDPATE

Due to feeling like you may die Chat Icon I mean I may be overexaggarating but I am having a very very very hard time right now at 8 weeks 4 days. I mean I have nausea 24/7...along with feeling dizzy..and just in a fog....I cannot function and just want to crawl up in a ball.....I go to sleep at 9pm but still can't manage to fucntion during the day (nausea and diziness really gets to me no matter how many snacks or B6 I take)!

I told 2 of my bosses (I pretty much have different boss depending on what client I am on) and I am kind of expected to work late if I have to (but by 6pm comes along I HAVE to go home cause I have had it!).

I feel like publc accounting is one of those careers you have to tell early sometimes....

I am thinking of cracking and telling my one other boss that I don't trust will keep a secret only because I am working with her for next month and I feel so crappy and been this way for 2 weeks now :(

Anyone else forced to tell earlier and glad they did?

She'd be supportive if anything were to happen

UPDATE: So I ended up telling her cause was feeling so bad..she was supportive and said she was keep it a secret! She also said she suspected because I am not normally a slacker but I have been acting "funny" and dragging past few weeks haha.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

I had to tell work early bc we were told our office was moving and I was expected to pack boxes of files so I just told them. I was like 7-8 weeks. I only told my bosses though. At that point I had two confirming blood tests but I wanted to wait until the first sono to tell everyone else.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

I'm in the accounting field...i HAD to tell mine because he just didn't understand why I cannot lift the client folders (some of them are really really heavy) and I do, feel groggy and like, I feel DRUGGED. I constantly feel like I'm going to vomit (haven't yet) and I got tired of him getting crazy and stressing me out.

I told at 8 weeks instead of 12 because I felt I was showing already and that it was obvious.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

As you know, one of my coworkers told our boss at 7w because she wanted him to know she wasn't just lazy if she was exhausted or not feeling well. He kept her secret and was also very understanding (as he has been for me as well). Sometimes you plan one thing but it just plays out a different way. I'd tell if you need to tell but ask them to be discreet about it.

I only babysit a couple of days a week, but I ended up telling her a little earlier than we wanted...but that was because she kept sending her kid over sick Chat Icon

Because I was seeing an IF dr for almost 3 years quite a few people in my office knew what I was going through. My boss and his wife were vested in every cycle I did and kept checking on the outcome so they knew nearly as soon as I did.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

I told work much earlier than I would have because of complications I was going through. I am a teacher and it caused me to miss the first day of school and then I was in the hospital and had to miss Open School Night. I also thought it may be difficult for the school to find a leave replacement for me because of one of the courses I teach. The people I told were respectful and kept it to themselves.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

Im a nurse and work directly with sick patients every shift. I told my boss at 8 weeks because there are a few things as a preggo I cannot come in contact with I felt it was only right of me to tell them. Also I'm a part time.employee so I felt they should know. I've worked for them for 5 yrs I just felt it was fair. I have 2 bosses I only told one because the other isn't so nice I'm hoping the nice guy told the mean guy! Chat Icon

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

Yes, and I'm glad I did. I told my direct boss around 7w, after I started dry heaving in a meeting. It was right when my m/s got really bad. I'm an attorney and I'm expected to work 10 hour days, and I go to court pretty frequently. He was very understanding (for the most part) so I'm glad I told him. I told my other bosses after my last appointment last week (at 10w2d).
Most of the support staff had a "feeling" - moms and grandmoms, said they could see it in my face weeks ago lol.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...

I told my bosses and fellow supervisors pretty much right away. Im a supervisor at Costco so theres a lot of lifting and bending physical work. Between that and my horrible nausea they jsut had to know. I let work get around to the rest of my employees after I went to my first appt at 8 weeks, I was starting to show already and they had known I was trying Chat Icon

I told them earlier than planned because I felt HORRIBLE and I started showing early (major bloat) and my students figured it out!! I think I was around 8-10 weeks.

I told the big boss at 3.5 weeks, but that's because he's my dad. I told my direct boss the next day, because we're close and she was the only one outside the family that knew we were TTC (and she's also pregnant).

With my DS I told my bosses pretty early on. I believe I was around the 7 week mark. I told them mostly b/c I was nauseous and vomiting CONSTANTLY, which didn't really work so well when my job was to sing all dayChat Icon They were very supportive!

With my first pregnancy, I ended up telling my boss around 7.5 weeks bc I work in a school and there was an outbreak of some illness and I went into her office panicking asking if it was safe for me to go into that classroom.

Re: Anyone tell work earlier than planned...UDPATE

I was offered a promotion at around 8 weeks, so I felt it would only be fair to tell my boss, just in case she didn't want me to take the position.
