My SIL went for her first sono last week (6 weeks) and the sono tech "thought" she saw a second heartbeat. She said it looked like there was a flicker behind the obvious one. Now, she has to wait two weeks to go back and do another sono to know for sure. They are kinda freaking out and really scared. They do not want to have twins - but of course what will be, will be. So did anyone else ever hear of this happening and it turn out to NOT be two? Thanks!

Not for me.... At 5wks, my RE only saw one hb and said "it is definitely just one". Then, at 6wks, they saw 2hb's. They told me they didn't know if both would make it, but I am 31wks with twins now.

Many pregnancies start out as twins, with the mommy having no clue because sonos are usually not done that early. I am having twins and was warned of the "vanishing twin syndrome". Look that up on google.

Thanks, I will. I just feel so bad for them - it took them a while to decide that they even wanted one kid and they are just not in any position to have two right now...
