I just don't risk box color anymore. Too many disasters. I leave color to a pro

Re: Anyone try Madison reed hair color?
Yes. I used it for close to a year. I usually went to the Madison Reed Color Bar near Union Square for permanent color, and touched it up myself in between with the semi-permanent root reboot. I liked it, but the people at the Color Bar would only do the roots and refused to pull the color through. Which I didn't think was a big deal until I saw a photo of the back of my head and it looked awful, like I had a dark bowl on my head. I've since left them and have been working for months to get my color to be more consistent.
The permanent color was drippier than other box colors. The root reboot was good and easy to use, but it always seemed not to be quite enough product. I also like the touch up powder and their shampoos and conditioners.

i used it for about a year -- it was better than the typical box dye with the shower cap and 2 sets of gloves included, and the correction wipe was a great help. but i got tired of doing it myself and realized i was missing a lot of hair in the back. :/ so, if you're going to use box - it is better, but nothing is like going to a real colorist.
