Looks interesting and I know that collars that sit high on the neck work with pulling, but not sure I'd spend $40 on it.

No, but we've used the Halti for Annie who is terrible on the leash.

Does she bite?
No way!
She'll lick you to death. I know it looks like a muzzle but it's not. The way it works is if they pull it pushes the head down which is comfortable. It took a few tries to get her used to it but she walked very well for a while... then we moved out and my parents untrained her. Don't use a retractable leash with it though as that will pull their head down. They also go by the name of gentle leader and head collar. Good luck!
Look at what a mean dog Annie is! Grrr!

I might have to give that a shot. I've tried training Bama many times not to pull, but he gets so excited when it's time for a walk that as soon as we get out the door he's dragging me down the street until he starts to get tired.

I don't think they make promise collars and weighted vests for Chihuhuas(sp?)
Have you thought about changing trainers? Shanti swears by Bark Busters.

We have the same one and before I put it on Tiny I tested it out on Scott... . All kidding aside I really did and on myself. The ends are dull and it doesn't hurt.

Re: Anyone try this collar that Ceasar Milan is selling?
FYI...we had something that was like the prong collar, but it was all plastic. I hated it because it was easy for the links to snap apart. So I do not recommend that.
Then we got the metal prong collar. My dog barely pulled on it, so it was a success, but it still irritated his skin and caused some hair loss where it rubbed his neck. We don't use it much anymore. I prefer a harness but they are terrible for training.

That's a good idea! I should have put it around DH's neck I love this collar and thought it hurt her but the trainer said it is better for their necks and use it only for walks. She LOVES when she hears the chain jingle. WALK TIME!! Good luck with training Tiny!

Re: Anyone try this collar that Ceasar Milan is selling?
When I was a kid our dog had the pronged collar -- and it irritated his skin to the point where he got an infection.
I have used the halti and I think it works great.
The best of course is to train your dog in a non-aggressive manner to LISTEN TO YOU. When you say HEEL, he should heel.
BTW - Ceasar Milan looks like the dog guru but his shows are edited in such a way that the training looks quicker and easier than it is. Usually it takes weeks to months of constant training to get the results that they show on his show. So don't expect quick fixes - training takes time and patience...
ETA - and CONSISTENCY!!

Re: Anyone try this collar that Ceasar Milan is selling?
I haven't tried it but I've seen it used on his show. I think it sounds like a great concept. I would love to try it with Yogi because he is terrible on the leash. The only way I can keep him from pulling is if I put the chocker chain right at the top of his neck. But, then it doesn't stay in place and it slides down. I think I'm gonna talk to DH about getting this collar.

This collar although widely available, is incredibly easy to use incorrectly. It is also being reviewed as an inhumane way to train a dog. I do see that it is used on a Rottie under the supervision of a trainer in this case, but please know that it can have an adverse affect and is not useful for all breeds.
In addition, the collar on Cesar's website sits very high under the dogs jaw. Depending on the breed and the use of it, I can see multiple issues: collapsing a trachea, TMJ irritation and even swallowing issues.
Also note that it states that any dogs under 13 inches (neck circumference) should not use this product. I would also wager that there should in addition be some breed-specific warnings as well.
I understand that sometimes it is difficult to get a dog to do what you want or what is safe, but seek alternative methods to restrictive and prong collars please.
ETA: one of the best ways to help the dog understand what you want it to do is by the use of a harness rather than a collar. My dogs use the collars strictly for their ID tags. When on a leash or restrained they all use harnesses.

Re: Anyone try this collar that Ceasar Milan is selling?
Never in my life have I seen a harness on a large dog. I have friends who have small dogs that pull them all over the place WITH a harness. Before the prong collar Jasmine was choking herself and I think that was horrible, would make me so sad to walk her. The prong collar does not hurt her and she has not choked herself once! I have researched collars and I know the look of it is not as pretty as her usual flat collar but she is now able to walk without choking herself which is WAY more important to me!

I just wanted to clarify. Rotties and other larger breeds (especially those with thicker neck muscles) are different, and if used correctly the collar referenced can be a very helpful tool. My concern, as always on this board, is that some people will not make the distinction between a breed that is capable of handling this kind of training tool and a breed that cannot without consulting a vet or trainer first. Sorry if it seemed like the comment was directed toward you and your Jasmine.

I walk My golden retriever/chow chow mix with a harness everyday.
We used the prong for about a week. He didn't give a crap. He walks AMAZING on the Harness.

Re: Anyone try this collar that Ceasar Milan is selling?
I just bought the Halti, and OMG it worked! Bonnie did not pull AT ALL. So if I could just train her now to not pull with a regular collar on. Trying to make her understand heel once and for all. She doesn't like the Halti much, but I don't care. I'm 7 months pregnant and can't have her pulling me anymore.
The only thing I heard about the harness (chest harness) is that it can trigger the pulling instinct in dogs. Thats what a dog trainer friend told me. That sometimes it could make them pull more. I know thats not the case in all dogs, but thats just what he told me.

You should give it a try. It's like walking a whole other dog!
