Anyone upgrade from 100amp svc to 200amp with PSEG?
How does it work? My electrician does everything, sends in some paperwork, and then one of PSEG's inspectors comes and checks to make sure its all a-ok and up to code outside the house, near the box?

We looked into it and I THINK yout have to call PSEG first as they need to bring more lines to your house and THEN your electrician does the upgrade and then submits the paperwork, and the inspection takes place

Ugh pain in the ass! I feel like dealing with them could take months, and right now I have a hazard situation w/my current electrical box. Ty for the info!

If it's a hazard tell them and they should be able to expedite it

Ty. I think I will do this. I'm also going to talk to my electrician b/c I"m sure he knows the best way to go about this, but of course I'm at work and fixating.

When we moved into our current house, we wanted to install CAC and had to upgrade from 100 amp to 200 amp. Our electrician did it. I have no recollection of having LIPA come and have anything to do with it.

You can just call an electrician and they will handle everything. Some call LIPA, some don't. We upgraded to 200 amp about 2 yrs ago (DH did it, he is licensed) and still haven't called LIPA. He says he has worked for companies that never called LIPA and other that did but it won't hold you up and won't take months.
