anyone use a dr. in west islip? need advice, please help!!!

I really love the practice I go to (Vullo, Ketchum, Sampino, Scquicciarini). However, because of some odd contract they have w/ my insurance, I cannot get sonos in the office - so I have to go out and then wait for a dr to call me to discuss the results. Today I had my first ultra sound; while the tech did tell me all was ok, I now have to sit here and wait for the radiologist office to fax my office (which as of now they have not yet) and then wait again for a dr to call. It just seems like too much anxiety everytime I need a sono. Maybe I'm overreacting and I'm nervous b/c this is my first, but I'm just impatient. I don't even know my due date b/c I'm waiting or this phone call!! Anyway, I was thinking, should I switch drs to an office where I can get my sonos done in the office by the dr? I LOVE the office, and don't want to leave, but not sure if this is going to stress me out. they are an in-network dr, but for some bizarre reason, sonos are not covered in their office b/c they are not affiliated with some AIM billing that my insurance uses for sonos.

Any suggestions on West Islip (or anyone close affiliated w/ Good Sam) doctors??? Or should I stick it out and just deal with it for the few (hopefully few) sonos I will need???

Thanks.....sorry so long

My doctor could do my sonograms in office but chooses not too. So I have to go to NorthShore Manhassat every other week....While its true that the technician cant give you the results the doctor there should be able to give you the results. Which is what happens when I go to Northshore. Since you like the practice so much I would stick with them. (things might be the same else where with your insurance) and just ask that you are notified of the results prior to leave the radiologists office. Most Drs. will accomadate you.

Honestly, you don't have that many sonos in a typical pregnancy - so that alone would not make me switch. I believe it is fairly common nowadays for some insurance companies to only allow sono's at certain approved places, so you may encounter this issue other places also.

If you still want to switch - I go to Dr. Egre & Dr. Klein in West Islip. I absolutely love them.

Thanks ladies! I think I might try to stay and just deal. I'm just impatient now because I just want to know where I'm at and know all is ok. I did not even think to ask for a dr at the radiology place, I'll have to do that next time, thanks for the tip......

Just keep in mind, before the radiologist doctor can give you results, they are going to have to get your doctor on the phone (or fax) for an ok to share results. Definitely not a big deal - with my m/c we had a second sono at the radiologist and that doctor didn't want us to leave without knowing either way. They actually called my OB's service at 7am and he called right back to give the okay to give results. I think nowadays a lot of doctors understand the insurance and their restrictions and really try to accomodate you.

I have to go to another office to get sono's done (I think the first one we ever got was in my Dr.s office but the rest have been at Madonna Services)

If you are happy with your Dr. I def. wouldn't switch - it seems like most drs. send patients out nowadays.

I use Dr. Trivedi from Nassau/Suffolk OBGYN and I love him! He's in West Islip a few blocks west of the hospital.
