Anyone use a nanny agency, or any lawyers out there? Question for you.

Hi everyone,

We are moving to Florida in a couple months and I am looking for a nanny for our children...

Was looking into hiring an agency that comes well recommended. However, they are having me sign a contract with a couple of stipulations that I thought were questionable:

-if the agency gets sued by the nanny, WE have to pick up the agency's legal bills

-the agency can't be sued if the nanny does something bad

#2 seems standard and I am willing to go with it - after all, WE will be the ones actually hiring the nanny after reviewing her info.

But #1 seems strange to me? Why should we foot the bill if the nanny has an issue with the agency?

Anyone else have experience with this? TIA!

Re: Anyone use a nanny agency? Question for you.

I worked with 3 agencies and never had to agree to anything like that.

I agree that #2 is reasonable, but I wouldn't agree to #1.

Is there another agency you could try?

thank you!

i wrote to them and told them i wasn't comfortable with #1. they said that the clause stemmed from an incident where a nanny was sexually assaulted in the family's home Chat Icon . the nanny then sued both the family and the agency, so the agency wants to be protected from that sort of thing. BUT they said that i could strike that clause from the contract.

i am looking into other agencies, although this one got by far the best recs...
