Anyone use Restaurant.com Gift Certificates?
Just looking for feedback on the experience.
I wanted to get one for my parents for Christmas but I never used them before and wanted to make sure it was a good experience and it was all they say it is.
How is it possible that they can give you a $25 gift certificate for only $10?
Any info would be appreicated.
TIA!

I've gotten them before- they're legit. They often have online codes where you can get them for as cheap as $4-5! I think most you can only use during the week and they don't seem to have a great selection of restaurants listed(not in my area anyway!)

Re: Anyone use Restaurant.com Gift Certificates?
I've used them twice and both were positive experiences. There are certain limitations, but each restaurant is different. For example, the majority of them can only be used for dinner hours and you have to spend a minimum of $35 (most restaurants don't put alcohol towards this total), etc. They tell you the rules before you purchase though. Use this code at checkout: 73515 and you get 50% off your purchase, so technically you can get a $25 gift certificate for $5. It sounds almost too good to be true, but it's honestly for real. You don't get a "real" gift certificate. After you pay you print it out from your computer. You can reprint any time in case you lose it. Sometimes you're asked afterwards to take an optional survey of the restaurant you ate at.

I don't know that I'd give this as a gift though since there are usually restrictions like you can only eat M-Th or whatever. I woudl use them personally but not as a gift.

I've used them many times without problems. Well, once the restaurant closed but I called and told them and they gave me a different one of my choosing.
I wouldn't give it to strangers but I would definitely give it to your parents. There are a ton of places in my area of Suffolk on there.

I have bought one before - but for myself. You don't get an actual "certificate" in the mail. You print it out online.

Re: Anyone use Restaurant.com Gift Certificates?
My mom is addicted. They go out for dinner during the week a lot.
I have printed a few certifcates but it's harder for us to get out on a weeknight.
They are definetly legit but there are definetly a lot of limitations you just have to read over before purchasing. If you sign up you can get emails where they are even CHEAPER! We got like 6 $25 certificates for $25 total a few months ago when they had an additional 60% off of the already reduced prices.
I agree with some of the above posters though- great for yourself but I would think twice about giving them as a gift unless the person you're giving them to is flexible.

Re: Anyone use Restaurant.com Gift Certificates?
My sister gave me one to use at a bbq restaurant in the city and I had a really good experience, I gave it in with the bill and no problems at all!

Re: Anyone use Restaurant.com Gift Certificates?
I've used them and like them, but watch for the small print. There can be restrictions like they're only good for dinner monday to thursday, do not cover drinks, there is a minimum order, that sort of thing- which is why I wouldn't give them for a gift.

I've used them a few times and haven't had a problem yet. So far I've only used them in Piccolos in Mineola but they take them on Friday & Saturday nights.

Re: Anyone use Restaurant.com Gift Certificates?
The way they can offer you the coupons is on a barter system They design the website for the restaurant...something to that effect. Then they work it out for consumers to buy the gift certs.
You can also buy them on ebay in the ebay stores area. There they are really cheap. Cheaper than on the restaurant.com - but now they send coupon codes every day you don't have to bid on them.
I have given them before as gift printed on nice paper - my grandma (racheeee's too!) in Florida loves them.
I used to get them for the Barefoot Peddler on Glen Cove Rd. $25. off - we would get wings, soup & finger food - we would spend like nothing & leave a good tip!
