Anyone use Toddler Time at Little Village?
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the population was - meaning the ratio of typical children to special needs children.
DS may be starting in an EI class there and I am wondering if it would be better to keep him in his current daycare for half the day or see if they would have an opening for him. I tend to think I would like to keep him where he is so that he would be exposed to a greater number of typical children for those hours, but if Toddler Time had a spot for him, he wouldn't have to travel back and forth during the day.
TIA!

from my understanding of Toddler Time, from DSs speech therapist (who works are LV). Toddler Time is strictly NT children. they offer TT kids the option of being in inclusion classes (at a reduced rate), should a space open, and those ratios are 12:1:2 or 18:1:2, so it would be half. the amount of NT children accepted into the inclusion classes depends on how many inclusion classes there are.
please don't quote me, this is just my understanding of how it works.

toddler time is a preschool/daycare run in the same building at LVS. they are completely separate schools. however, the PP is correct, they do offer a few inclusion classes. they would be equally split between the LVS kids and the toddler time kids. you get a tuition discount for it, but you have to have a typical child to be considered for that class, since your child would be the role model for the CPSE kids in the class. there are usually one or two inclusion classes at most over there.
as for using them, we had my son in their EI program there, 5 days a week 2.5 hours per day. he was actaully booted from the program in May, and we had no placement for him until summer transition to CPSE. (thats a story in itself) but suffice to say we put him into a toddler time class for that last month of school so he was still in familiar surroundings. i can't say i was thrilled with what i saw, but by the same token he should not have been in a typical class at that time, he should have been in an inclusion class at best. He seemd a bit lost, but again, he was also only there for 1 month. once we got him moved to Boces over the summer things were much better, but that was a self contained class, just a different make up of kids.
