Anyone use Words Their Way?
We are just starting to use this program for Word Study in our school. Just finished watching the DVD and while it seems like a great program, it also looks like it involves a TON of prep work?
Anyone have experience with it?

I teach 1st grade, we only use the program in for the extended day, so we don't do the WHOLE program the kids just have a workbookand we play some games with it (i personalyl do not like it).
We use the Wilson -Fundations program as our word study and its fabulous!!

I used Words Their Way last year for Phoics. It is great but so much cutting and pasting.. wasting time!!!

We use it and I think it's great on some levels, annoying on others. The cutting and pasting is obnoxious, but I think it makes more sense for kids to be learning to spell words on their level. I mean, who cares if they can spell difficult words that aren't used a lot if they can't spell common words?

I just took a class this summer on this program. It is a lot of work. The teacher recommended for the first year just do one group so you can learn the whole program, and it won't be so overwhelming making everything. I am going to try it this year and see how it goes.

Yes, I did. I really liked the class and the county gave us a lot of stuff to get started!! (card stock, file folders, an accordian file,etc.)

Oh - good! Thanks! I have some training in Words Their Way from college, but I'd still like a better grasp on how to really make it work. I would take it this fall, but I have to take DRA. Blah.
