Anyone want to save a cat (or both)???
My SIL's father put her two cats into a kill shelter! My SIL is now married and has two DC and a dog and can't take the cats herself and I guess since her mom passed away a couple of years ago, her dad just can't (or doesn't want to?) take care of the cats.
She's been calling around to no-kill shelters and they either have a wait list or won't take a cat over a certain age. I'm waiting on more details for the cats, but I believe one of them is about 5 years old. Here's a pic of both of them - it would break my heart for these kitties to be put down!!!
Their names are Oreo and Muffin.
ETA: Here's some info from my SIL
Oreo Male Color: Blk & Wht Breed: Domestic Short Hair Age: 7yrs Personality: Very affectionate and friendly. Does well with other cats. Muffin Female Color: Calico Breed: Domestic Short Hair Age: 7yrs Personality: Vert affectionate and a little shy. Ok with other cats. Image Attachment(s):

Try calling the Town of Smithtown shelter.
They have a cat section and are very kind - maybe they can?
So sorry!!

OH NO!!!
Is there anyway you can keep them until a waiting list opens up?
I would take them in a heartbeat - but we have a cat already and live in a small apt...DH would not go for it.

OMG what beautiful babies! I wish I could take them both but I already have two cats of my own. How can people be so cruel?
ETA: If you haven't already, please post this on the pets board.

Re: Anyone want to save a cat (or both)???
There are rescue groups that work out of Pet Smart. They are not affiliated with the store, they just use the store so the cats can be seen and adopted.
Maybe contact one of them. I've spoken with the lady at the East Meadow store before and she was very helpful and dedicated to helping kitties.

Re: Anyone want to save a cat (or both)???
Updated in the first post.
Also, my SIL was able to put them on a wait list for a no-kill shelter, but the wait is 2 months. So we're still trying to see if anyone wants them OR if they'd be willing to take them for 2 months until they get into this shelter.
I will give her the other suggestions posted here too, thanks!!!

Could she take them for the two months? I feel so bad for these little guys going from a home to a cage in a shelter.
