anyone watch My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding?
This show is unbelievable. I am having a very difficult time watching it, listening to what the girls have to say and watching them dance.  and the outfits??!!
anyone else watch?

I think this must have been filmed years ago because I know I've seen pics of the non gypsy bride on her wedding day before.
And why would you even want a dress you can't walk in? Makes no sense!

OMG I can't believe that you finally got this on TV!! Its crazy isn't it! I reckon the dresses that Thelma make must cost about $10k and the venues and weddings look so crap. They have the most bizarre values, they dress like hoochies but don't so much as kiss before marriage! And the women are the most fastidious house keepers!
We have lots of Travellers where I live, and they drive around looking for scrap metal to sell. If you so much as put something outside, they will knock on your door within 24 hours to take it...I put an old BBQ out a few weeks ago and bingo, it was taken so quickly!! They also knock on your door saying things like "I was in the neighbourhood paving your neighbours driveway, do you want yours doing" its amazing they live this completely alternative lifestyle amongst us normla folks!!
I did love this show, everyone was talking aobut it when it was on earlier in the year

i agree, i didnt really understand their lifestyle. i guess i wanted to see more of their day to day life and customs besides huge wedding dresses and communion dresses.

i agree i would love to watch a day to day show on them.
I couldnt take the ways the little girls were dancing i had to pick my jaw up a few times!!

We watched the 1st show and DVRed the 2nd. I couldn't believe the way the younger girls were dancing!! They said that they learned it from watching music videos.

Such a bizzarre lifestyle. I'm really confused at the whole high morals these girls are supposed to have yet they dress like hookers and dance like strippers. 
You take away these weddings and communions and it seems like these girls would have nothing to look forward to, sad.

I grew up in a town with a lot of travelers. They are not liked at all & yes this is how they dress all the time. This is how their weddings are. My SIL works with them & they are a tough tough group. Its their culture & how they are raised. They do not trust anyone outside of their community & don't really mingle with outsiders.
ETA: The parents are usually very strict & the girls are not allowed to mingle with the boys at all so often at weddings this is where they meet their future husbands. Sometimes the weddings are arranged. Their goal in life is to find a husband.
