Re: Anyone watch "ROME" on HBO?

I LOVE this show. But the producers have already said that it won't be back for another season. They said it is too expensive to produce. The first season cost $100 million and they aren't getting the fan base that they had in the first season.

I am soooo bummed because I love this show. Chat Icon

I thought HBO makes its decisions based on critic reviews, NOT fan base!!!!!

Re: Anyone watch "ROME" on HBO?

ONly 1 episode lft...the series finale

Last year, HBO trumpeted its new series, “Rome,” a spectacular undertaking about the good old days of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Brutus, Cicero and the whole ancient gang. While it was interesting and impressive to look at, it was also somewhat ponderous. HBO decided to greenlight only one more season, not so much because the show wasn’t good enough, but because it cost an emperor’s ransom to make. As a result, this season’s “Rome” has been superb and riveting. Maybe the knowledge that the end is near caused the writers, producers and actors to rev up the storylines, but whatever it is, the episodes themselves have been as luscious and vibrant as the production design and costumes. This is the series finale, so watch, whet your appetite, then go back and catch up on In Demand or DVD. Togas are optional. (HBO, Sunday, 9 p.m.)

LOVE this show. Unfortunately, it's the last season. It's been great this season.

ETA: It's incredibly expensive to produce. It's a production of the BBC and HBO, and BBC series rarely last more than a few seasons.
