We stayed at the Sandals Golf resort...loved it...honestly we didn't do much on the island. We took a catamaran tour that took us around for a day, but that was it.

We loved the Grande too.
We left the resort for a couple of hrs but went back. We only hit up a local mall looking for sunglasses. That was enough for us. We wanted back to LUXURY!!

Re: anyone whos been to St. Lucia.. need help
we honeymooned in St. Lucia in January - so beautiful!!!!!!
We stayed at anse chastanet in soufriere, st. Lucia (the southern part). It was totally perfect for us. Most of the resorts (Sandals, LeSport, etc.) are in the north. The south has anse chastanet, jalousie plantation, and a few others. The best snorkeling is at anse chastanet!
St. Lucia is most famous for the Pitons - the twin mountains that were formed by a volcano - they appear to come up right out of the water. The Jalousie and anse chastanet have awesome views of the pitons (I think I took 50 photos of them). The hotels in the north of the island are only about 20 minutes away by boat so you would certainly go out and see them if you stay in the north.
we splurged and took a helicopter tour of the island - so the first picture is a little blurry:

I have a few photos of st. lucia saved in my lifamilies album. you'll LOVE st. lucia!!!!

We went to St Lucia for our honeymoon and stayed at the Jalousie Plantation which sits right in between the Grande Piton and the Petit Piton and is in the center of a rain forest. It was VERY tropical and romantic. I would definitely advise you to visit the diamond waterfall which is in a botanical garden. We also took a mineral bath which is supposed to be very good for your body.
After 1 week of staying at the Jalousie Plantation we stayed at the Body Holiday, Le Sporte which is on the north side of the island and is also very nice, it has a Tao restaurant on their premisis although the resort is mainly for singles which is a mistake on our part, we made the best of it.
If your resort has a heliport definitely definitely take advantage of the helicoptor ride once you arrive in St Lucia which takes you from the airport to your resort!
You picked a gorgeous island to vacation at and won't be disappointed, your going to love it!!
Here are some pictures from our honeymoon:
