Anyone with an 8 year old?
My DS has turned into a complete a--hole lately and I was wondering if this is common at this age/3rd grade. He's fresh, entitled, talks back, rude and cries when he doesn't get his way. I have rarely laid a hand on my children but he makes me want to slap the crap out of him. It's like he's a teenage girl.

Re: Anyone with an 8 year old?
You pretty much described my 8 year old son. I feel like my older son who is 10 now went through it too, but closer to 9. My 8 year old wasn't as bad as how his older brother was, but now my 10 year old has gotten so much better and somewhat back to his sweet self (sometimes... LOL) My 8 year old thinks everything is his now so we have taken things away and he has rules when it comes to his iPhone and electronics. Just hang in there. Then the preteen attitude starts. LOL

yup!!! my oldest is in 3rd grade... he'll be 9 in early November. a lot of time hes still sweet... but there are definitely days when that preteen/ teen attitude sneaks in, and i'm like "WTF?!" hes an extremely smart / observant kid- so he has an answer for everything, it seems like- ugh!!! and getting him to do anything but the iPad/ video games is such a battle!!! so- no real advice, just a "you're not alone"!!

Anyone with an 8 year old?
so- thought about this post yesterday... we got a new coffee table for the basement, and my boys were playing with the styrofoam packing stuff- doing karate chops to break it up stuff- making a huge mess- ugh!! but, weren't actually damaging anything and were laughing together- so, i let them have fun... So i said to my oldest " you guys are gonna help clean this up when you're done..." and he goes "Why? You're the one letting us do it!!!" UGH!!! the attitude!!!

The attitude is non stop. And somehow he has developed a vocabulary that would make a truck driver blush. And it is ALL THE TIME.
Glad to know I am not alone.

Re: Anyone with an 8 year old?
Glad to know I am not alone. It has been horrible. Talking back to everything, not listening at all, and then the crying and tantrums when he is told no. Literally jumping up and down crying when he is told no. All I was doing was screaming at him. We had a big talk one day about 3 weeks ago about how neither of us were happy with the screaming and the behavior and it has helped. He has been listening more and when he doesn't I remind him about what we talked about. I hope this continues.

My DS is almost 8 and he hasn’t gotten too sassy but I also thinks he know I will pull all his favorite things and he will sit bored in his room until his attitude changes. I have zero tolerance for it.

DH and I have absolutely noticed the attitude lately. He gets shut down immediately. Also, he likes to throw people under the bus all of a sudden (not literally-he likes to proclaim, "This is YOUR fault!" whenever someone makes a mistake).

Same. My 9 yr old and almost 8 year olds know we don't play around. We don't tolerate disrespect and we always follow through on punishments. My 3 year old is definitely pretty sassy though. It's a lot of work to keep kids in line!

He is my first and was a ray of sunshine. I don't know what is happening to him. Even this past weekend, my SD, who adores him, came to visit and she was like "Why is he being so annoying?" I told her welcome to your brother 2.0 edition.

Anyone with an 8 year old?
I was telling my husband that 7 was the worst age so far but now Im worried about 8. My son told his resource room teacher I don't care when she said he was going to call me. Hes in second grade and Im going crazy already!! He even put himself in time out in resource room. I feel like Im going crazy because nothing fazes him.
