Anyone with carpal tunnel? Advice needed.
My hands have been going numb for the last few nights, which the OB said is due to swelling. I have hand braces because of my RA, but they are not really comfortable. If they are not going to work I am probably not going to waste time looking for them.
So, my question is-did they work for you or no? I might try one night anyway, but I didn't want to get my hopes up.

Re: Anyone with carpal tunnel? Advice needed.
I wore brances on my hands at night b/c that was really when they went numb. Eventually, most of my fingers were numb 24/7 and my wrists hurt a bit. I'm pretty sure I was on bedrest by that time so I wore the braces constantly. It helped a little with the pain. I don't think it helped much with the numbness. It took several weeks after DS was born before I got full feeling back in all of my fingers.

I wear a brace on each hand every night. Without them I am in excruciating pain combined with the pins & needles sensation. With them...I just get the numbness. While the relief isn't 100%, I absolutely couldn't get through a night without them.

I bought braces from Target... They didn't help 100% but I was able to sleep through the night and my hands weren't in excruciating pain each morning. Funny thing- once I gave birth, it started going away! I forgot my braces at home and the first night in the hospital I had to sleep without them. I was fine!! Since then it's only gotten better.
Good luck! Hope you feel better.. It suuucks so much

Re: Anyone with carpal tunnel? Advice needed.
i wore a brace on both hands - the pain was so severe at the end, i couldn't hold a pen and Dave had to clip my bra for me....
the brace i used was: http://www.amazon.com/Ace-TekZone-Wrist-Right-28S-2fM-29/dp/B000WKW36W/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1260204935&sr=8-14
it got better maybe a month after Emma was born...(i was still wearing the braces sometimes in the hospital).

I wear braces on my wrists at night. Before the braces, the pain was horrible and I could not sleep. I even notice that my hands hurt if I am lying on the couch watching TV and I don't have the braces on. I don't wear them during the day, I just deal with the pins and needles, but I don't have pain during the day- just at night. The braces definately help me with the pain and night.
