Re: anyone with gestational diabetes question
how you process pasta depends on YOU. (as an example, a close friend cannot handle bread at ALL - but i'm fine with it).
I personally process Barilla better than Barilla Plus (which is supposed to be better for you).
You CAN have it - but you have to have a LIMITED amount. For spaghetti (thin linguine type stuff) - you can have 1 1/2 cups with very little sauce. If you are a heavy sauce person - i'd do one cup only...
I got some Ronzoni to try - to see if i process that better than Barilla... (i have to test 2 hours after each meal - so i know exactly how my body processes this stuff).

Re: anyone with gestational diabetes question
Everyone is different. For me, I cannot eat any type of pasta with the GD. I know there are some girls that can eat pasta such as Barilla Plus, or even the whole wheat pastas.
My body cannot handle the carbs in any amount.

Re: anyone with gestational diabetes question
oh goodness i have to check after every hour which sucks. I had a very small amount of whole wheat last night and i was 3 points over. Is 3 points bad or not so bad. I was good all day today but didn't have hardly any carbs. Yesterday I had bread and pasta so maybe that is why I was higher after dinner. I will have to do a guess and check thing i guess.

Re: anyone with gestational diabetes question
I was able to eat pasta when I had GD but in a much smaller amounts. Also I found that if I add chicken in with the pasta compared to eating it alone, my numbers were much better.

One thing i was told is that you cannot 'carboload'. Don't save up all your carbs for the end of the day - or for one meal - your number wil be substantially higher if you do that...
Definitely add protein to the meals heavy with carbs - it helps cut them down...

Re: anyone with gestational diabetes question
I can eat regular white pasta in small amounts this pregnancy, but couldn't eat any kind at all last pregnancy. It depends. Only way to know is to try a small amount & test.
