anyone's dog ever tore their ACL?
Our pit mix completely tore his ACL back in June. We had surgery done and we know he'll never be 100%. Sometimes he still babies it but tonight he is not putting any pressure on it. If your dog has torn his ACL, how long did it take to heal? We walk him and massage his leg all the time. TIA!

Re: anyone's dog ever tore their ACL?
In May 2009 my Rottie had her ACL replaced on her right rear leg. It was a LONG recovery. We did alot of walking/exercising. It took a good year before she wasn't "babying" it anymore, that she didn't get up and limp a little.
The more you walk the dog and exercise, the better it will be. But if the dog is not walking on the leg at all, I would take it to the vet for a check up.
Good luck!

Re: anyone's dog ever tore their ACL?
That's what I figured. We have been exercising him a lot but my feeling is he tore it again. He freaks out very easily, so I think he got spooked last night and maybe tore it again. Obviously the caRtilidge is niot strong enough yet. Were giving him til saturday morning. He's not in pain so if he is still not walking on it Saturday morning, I will take him in before we feed him so they can take xrays. My poor man thanks for your help.
