Anyone's DS get circumcized after leaving the hospital?
My OB wouldn't do it in the hospital bc DS was very premature and was too small when he was released. We are having it done by a pediatric urologist next week and I am starting to get a little nervous. He will put under anesthesia...anyone else have this? How was it?

my ds was born with hypospadius and was not circumsized at the hospital either. He had to go to a uroligist also and the corrective surgery was done when he was 6 months, for part of which he did recieve anestsia and the second visit he did not recieve anestia. After the surgery & circumsion I had to keep his diaper area clean (not let him be in a wet diaper) and put ointment on it. He healed quickly!

we are going thru the same thing...DS was also a preemie and has a chordee so he will be having surgery next month with anesthesia. I am also nervous, but from what the surgeon told me, its pretty quick and they do well.  Let me know how it goes, ours is next month!

my son was done 1 1/2 weeks after leaving the hospital. they numbed the area around it,i didnt look,they straped his arms and legs down,i couldnt watch,my husband did.all went fine..

My son was a month old when he was circumcised by a mohel in a Jewish ceremony. Our mohel also does circumcisions for people who are not Jewish. He calls it a holistic circumcision. His procedure does not take as long as when a doctor does it. This is just my opinion but I feel that a mohel's technique is a bit more humane. I would not have put my baby under general anesthesia, especially after all we went through with him having low birth weight and being in the NICU.

We also had a mohel and ds was about 3 weeks I think... He had jaundice and they wouldn do the procedure until the ped gave the ok
