Apartment people-what's your laundry schedule?

Since it's not very easy to just throw a load in, what do you do to make it less painful?

I do the laundry every Saturday at my moms house. I get up real early so it's not like i waste my day doing laundry or anything. I am thinking of having a laundry service do it for me but i dont know if i will do that yet.

I'm home during the day right now, so I try to do the clothes 1 day and linens the next. Sometimes, if there's a lot, I'll do light clothes one day and dark clothes the next. I'd rather spend an hour a day doing it than 3 hours at one.

When I worked full-time during the day, I dropped it off. The rest of the world would be there evenings/weekends, I'd wait forever for machines, I hated it. So worth the $$ to pay someone else to do it.

I kind of multi-task it and look on the bright side. I can get all of it done at once instead of one load at a time.

While stuff is in the washer, I clean the bathroom. While the clothes are drying, I dust the living/bedroom and run the vacuum. When I come upstairs with everything, I put fresh sheets on the bed and put the laundry away. So it essentially takes me 2 hours to get 90% of my chores done.

We have a laundry room in our building.

I do laundry once a week, usually on Tuesday night. It takes me 2 hours, including folding time.

How many loads do you do? It's a pita to stay on top.

For those who send it out, about how much does it cost per load?

The laundry is on each floor and no one uses it during the evening. It feels like my own laundry room when no one needs it!

Sometimes if we are too busy, I send it out - don't know the price per pound. We do it out of Great Neck, b/c the prices are higher here.

I call the guy - he picks it up and brings it back 24 hours later

I pay .45 a LB- which is nothing

if you live in bayside/flushing and want to give it a try- FM me for his number

the service is awesome

if I am not home - he will leave it with out me paying!

Re: Apartment people-what's your laundry schedule?

i live in an apartment in a house so no easy access to a washer and dryer. my family has offered to let me use their machines but it would take too long.

i go to the laundromat every other week and it takes me about 2 hours from start to finish. if i went every week, it would still take the same amount of time. i coordinate my laundry with errands so it's not like i am sitting at the laundromat doing nothing for an hour. after years of this, i've developed a pretty good system.

i've used the drop off a few times but by me in Suffolk, it's $$$. almost a dollar a pound. so for one bag that would cost me $10 to do myself, it would cost about $30-$40 for drop off.
