Apartment renters
After a long 8 years in the same apartment I told my DH it’s time to find something bigger and better! Now how do we do this? Craigslist seems shady And I don’t know where else to start so any help/advice would be amazing! TIA We are looking Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, etc

Re: Apartment renters
MLS (multiple listing service) has a rentals section. That's your best bet for legal rentals.

Re: Apartment renters
I wouldn't dismiss craigslist completely. There are legitimate listings there. I have used them myself when listing my parents apt.

Re: Apartment renters
honestly you might as well contact a broker and let them help you.
I remember when I was renting all listing always required a brokers fee even if I did all the work finding the place. It was so hard finding a place being rented by the owner.
I found out what these brokers do is contact the owner and ask them if they can list it also and there is no fee to them because the renter will pay for it pisses me off.
Now I will say i never rented from actual legit apartment buildings versus renting out of someones houses

in East Meadow, Heritage Square apartments usually has some availability
Try and stay away from Brokers, as the poster above stated.
brace yourself for the insane prices people are charging

Do you know anything about that place? It looks pretty nice but there’s some reviews that spooked me

Not sure your budget but I feel rent is expensive. You can check online.

Apartment renters
I rent out an apartment. I have had to rent it twice in 7 years. I usually go by word of mouth. I posted my apartment in a local facebook group and within an hour had over 90 responses of people looking for an apartment, most of them like you looking to upgrade. As the owner I will say that the competition is fierce. If you are looking to rent in a private home, try to offer something to make yourself stand out. Out of the responses I received. I rented my apartment within 3 days of the posting.

It’s crazy out there! We went to an open house yesterday for an apartment in a house in Wantagh and I said to my DH we don’t stand a chance there were a million people there! I also didn’t feel comfortable giving some random guy an application with my social security number and information either. Luckily we don’t have to move but just want to so no rush but never did I think it would be so competitive!
