Apparently the flu shot is not important in the eyes of my insurance
I got just got hit with a $67 bill from DD's pedi office for her flu vaccine!! Had I known that I could have taken her to walgreens and got it for $25. I can't believe they would rather pay for multiple doctor visits and possible hospitalization then dish out the $67 for the stupid vaccine. I hope I'm this annoyed when I call to complain tomorrow morning

I hate insurance companies.
In the same vein, mine wouldn't cover birth control, but would cover 9 months of prenatal care and childbirth

they probably billed it wrong...most companies DO cover it...theres a ton of loopholes etc. but Call the insurance company and find out before you worry, its usually a simple error on someones part that can be fixed.

You should call the insurance company.

That doesn't sound right. I wonder if it was billed wrong. And just so you know Walgreens won't do kids so you may not have had a choice in the end anyway.

I agree. I get letters from my insurance company if I am 1 month late on any of DS vaccines and that includes the flu shot!

Re: Apparently the flu shot is not important in the eyes of my insurance
So I spoke to my ins company they cover the flu shot but not the flu nasal spray which is what she got(I was trying to spare her a needle). Sneaky little bastards, at least I know for next time.

Re: Apparently the flu shot is not important in the eyes of my insurance
My insurance won't cover it for me, though they do for DS. I am even one of those people with a chronic condition who is supposed to get a flu shot--guess they think it's more efficient to cover a hospital stay if I got really sick.

Re: Apparently the flu shot is not important in the eyes of my insurance
Did you get the flu shot during another visit like a recheck? My ped told me that the flu shot has to be a completely separate visit or else the insurance company will not pay for it.. ridiculous, huh?
