Appraisals
Do they all just drive by when they give an appraisal or do they come in and see what you've done with the place? Thanks!

It depends on your mortgage place. Some will do a drive by, but my bank went into the house and evaluated thorought

it also depends on the neighborhood - our appraisal was just a drive by, bc the appraiser said they had a good grasp of what the market value was without seeing the inside.

DH is an appraiser - he almost always goes in. They can obtain most of the information online, but DH likes to go in to see updates, anything that could add (or deduct) value etc. They can actually get an estimate of the value based on comparible properties in the area just by looking up the size, type, property, etc.

For the first mortgage I belive they usually walk in and around the property. When I did a refinance they just did a drive-by.
