Just wondering cause i have a wake tonight, do all men wear full suits to a wake?
Its been a while, and I am drawing a blank.

Re: Appropriate attire for a wake?
Men usually don't wear full suits. A shirt and tie, maybe.
If I were you, I'd just wear a nice pair of black pants and a nice top.

Conservative is always best in my opinion.
I think men wearing a suit is a sign of respect. Not just stopping by between 2 errands. JMHO.

Re: Appropriate attire for a wake?
I don't think a suit is necessary. I think any dark outfit (no jeans) is fine. I have to go to a wake tomorrow night straight from work and am just wearing work clothes.

Oh no the guys at the office would never wear jeans or their work clothes.
Just wondering if dress pants for a man with a dress shirt would be appropriate. or if they will need a tie and jacket as well.

I don't thinka tie and jacket is necessary. a sweater over a dress shirt is a nice outfit for a wake too.

Re: Appropriate attire for a wake?
I went to one last week and the majority of women were in black & white and men in button down shirts w/ black pants.

Re: Appropriate attire for a wake?
IMO, A full suit would be appropriate if it were a wake for an immediate family member or close family friend. For almost anyone else casual but neat attire would suffice, like Dockers and a button down shirt. I would stay away from jeans and sneakers although I attended a co-worker's father's wake with some others in our work uniforms.

That would be appropriate. I would bring a tie though for "just in case".

We just had DH's grandmother's wake and some people came right from work in jeans/shorts, whatever and I honestly didn't care. I think it's nice that people take the time out of their day come to pay the respects to the family after a long day at work, whether they're in a suit and tie or workboots and jeans.
