Approx How much would a new kitchen cost?
We saw a nice house today , but it needs a completely new kitchen. How much does that cost? I don't need fancy things, just nice and functional- any ballpark figures? Are we talking 5K, 15K or 30K??? TIA

My parents just did theirs over- new floors, all new appliances and cabinets (they installed them themselves) and I think it ran close to 10k

low end with counters, cabinets, some electrical and plumbing, less expensive appliances, painting, maybe 8-10K for a smaller kitchen, no fancy islands or anything like that.

i think if you go all out... custom cabinets, high end appliances, granite, tile, etc... you're looking at $15,000-$20,000.
*we got all Kitchenaid appliances and for all of them (dishwasher, microwave, stove & refrigerator), they were $4500.
depending on how big your kitchen would be... granite can be quite expensive.

Re: Approx How much would a new kitchen cost?
I read an article on home improvements recently (we are going to start doing a lot of work on our house, so I'm starting the research early), and it said that a kitchen should cost roughly 10% of the cost of the house. Much less than that, and it looks cheap compared to the rest of the house. Much more, and it is very out of place with the rest of the house. It needs to be roughly within the style and expense of the other parts of the house. This is for a complete redo, not just an update or refurbishing. Plus, if you plan on living in the house for a long time, it doesn't matter what the resale value is. You can make it functional and a little on the cheaper side now, and in ten years or so, you can upgrade some or all of the kitchen.
