April is Chiild Abuse Prevention Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month

From the American Humane Society:
Every day, approximately 2,500 children are victims of abuse and neglect.
Each year, more than 1,400 children die as a result of abuse and neglect.
In nearly 80 percent of the cases, the perpetrators of neglect or abuse are the child's parents.
While these numbers alone are disturbing, what's worse is that they are much more than numbers. They are children and families in towns and cities across America -- likely right in your own community -- and possibly right next door!
American Humane knows that for every child who is protected from abuse and neglect, and for every family that is strengthened, the prospects for the future of all our communities grow brighter. The benefits of helping just one child are increased many times over as he or she develops into a good citizen, a good neighbor and a productive member of society.

tell me about it, it breaks my heart and makes me wonder sometimes how some who are so abusive have children in the first place.
