Are all Gas Stations the same?
I usually fill up at the "brand name" kinds of places and pump my own gas. But the other night it was late, cold out and it was a full service "Empire" station, so I went for it. DH saw my receipt and just about that I went to a no-name kind of place. Is there really a big difference or do all the delivery trucks wind up filling at the same place anyway?

I go to Empire religiously. Nothing wrong with their gas. I know some brands come from different places like Valero is from S America.

To me gas is gas, I fill up where it's cheap (which really is never so I guess I should say cheapest)

they all come come from the same place, i think. at this point, i can't imagine going to a place that costs 20 cents more per gallon just because it is a "name brand" gas station.

It is all the same. Trucks that deliver to Exxon also deliver to no name places. They all get their gas from the same places. No name places don't have their own trucks deliver, the big name places also deliver to them.

Actually, this isn't entirely true.
There IS a difference between the major brand name gasoline companies' gas and that sold by the no name companies. Whether or not it's enough of a difference for anyone to care is I guess open to discussion. I don't care, personally, so I fill up wherever I pass first (usually brand name, but when I lived elsewhere, there was a really cheap no-name gas station that I used religiously).
Someone else will have to chime in on the difference, but I do remember hearing that there is detergent or something added to the gasoline at the major names like Mobil that supposedly makes it better for your car. I've never had any problems with the no-name companies. I go with whatever is cheaper -- or whichever I find first.
If I'm saving $0.03 per gallon, that's total less than $0.50 for me.

Re: Are all Gas Stations the same?
Here's an article about it. They can be different, but the differences are now basically negligible. Link

Re: Are all Gas Stations the same?
I must be the only one that doesn't pay attention to gas prices. When DH or anyone mentions to me that the price of gas went up or down I have no idea.
I just stop at the first gas station I see when I need gas.

I am the complete opposite. I always try to find the cheapest place when it's time to fill up and I get annoyed when I leave the station and see a cheaper station down the road. My DH thinks I am nuts. But, to my defense, I spend over $60 at each fill up, so $.06 a gallon can make a difference for me in the long run.
