Are all multiple pregnancies high risk?
Hi! I'm 20 weeks pg with fraternal twins. I haven't had any problems with the pg so far, but I see my doctor every two weeks. I just went for my level 2 last week and they said I have to come back in 3 weeks then 6 weeks for growth sonos. Are all of these appts and ultrasounds normal or excessive? I just feel like it might be too much, but I can only have my singleton pregnancy to compare it too.

Re: Are all multiple pregnancies high risk?
I think so. You have a higher chance of having a premature birth so that is why after 20 weeks they start monitoring you closer.
My twins shared a placenta and I had additional high risk issues so i was getting sonograms pretty much every other week.....I didn't find it excessive....and it reassured me everytime i went and everything was going good.
I am so not a believer that a higher level of sonograms causes issues with babies that some people believe. I had well north of 20 sonograms and both of my boys are fine.

Re: Are all multiple pregnancies high risk?
Thanks! I think that my pg with my DS was so carefree, the idea of being high risk is freaking me out even if I'm not having any problems. I just want everything to go smoothly I guess.

Re: Are all multiple pregnancies high risk?
They should just change the name to "multiples doctor" instead of "high risk doctor". I think that would make us all feel better!

Re: Are all multiple pregnancies high risk?
my doctor didn't consider me "high risk" at all. He did, of course, monitor me more closely further along because obviousely, there is a risk of premature labor.
