Are false negatives possible with the AFP?
I had mine done, and it said that my risk of having a baby with Downs was <1:5000, so my doctor said I have a very low risk. I was a bit worried because I am 36. I am now just starting to worry that it may be a false negative, and that my risk may actually be higher despite the good blood test result. Does anybody know if this is possible? I have pretty much ruled out the amnio since I got good results with this test, as long as my level II goes well.

No, I believe the problem with the test is when it gives you bad results because that can be inaccurate. I think good results are right.

No I think your results are true results. This test has a high false positive result - I think your results are great! I hope mine are as good.
