Re: Are pre-natal massages safe?

I was told they were safe - but not to have them done during my 1st trimester.

But I had one in my 3rd trimester and it was AWESOME!!!

The reason I ask is because a friend of mine had one at 32 weeks and went into labor that night- she swears it was from the massage and I was wondering if anyone had one or if their Dr. said it was ok.

I can tell you in the one that I had - they did not touch my feet, where you have pressure points that can put you into labor - the person giving the massage should know this.

Re: Are pre-natal massages safe?

I have a GC but I'm scared to go (because of some of the early labor stories I've heard, and I'm paranoid about everything). I am going to use it after I give birth as a day out of the house. Andrea is a Massage Therapist you should FM her and see what she thinks. Chat Icon

Yes, they are completely safe. Just make sure you go to a licensed therapist that is certified specifically in prenatal massage (don't be shy to ask- a lot of them say they do prenatal massage, but really don't have the real training). It is recommended to go after 12 weeks. You can get them up until the day you give birth!Chat Icon
Now go get pampered!!!!Chat Icon

Re: Are pre-natal massages safe?

I was planning on going for one this weekend for my 30th b-day.Chat Icon My Dr. said that it was fine for me to go but have a heads up on the oils they may use( allergy concerns).
So hopefully I'll be heading out to Gurneys (thanks to my DH)
